High Performant, Supervised, and Color-Aware Halftoning Technology

RInoiser is Reprointelligence’s color-aware halftoning technology. It enables smooth and visually pleasing 1-bit halftoning for various applications including but not limited to plate setting or digital printing. RInoiser is, as its name indicates, noise-based. It focuses fully on the patternless halftoning, also known as dithering or FM-screening. RInoiser distinguishes in multiple aspects from industry standard FM screening technologies of other vendors. RInoiser features among dynamically rendered halftones also pre-baked multi-phase level-lookup tables generated by machine-learning techniques . This ensures a visually pleasant and color accurate 1-bit representations of the upstream contone data.

RInoisers color awareness includes inverse-loop analysis of the overlayed, generated 1-bit representations against the color and lightness level of the original by incorporating advanced color management. Though the complexity of this method is high, the code optimization allows for blazing fast contone-to-halftone conversion.

RInoiser shines in applications where 1-bit halftoning is required but output resulution is limited. This includes applications e.g. digital direct printing on textiles, corrugated board, single pass high speed digital printing and marking applications.
